The event starts in Market Street, Ashton, this Friday (24 November) and will run for three weekends (24-26 November, 1-3 December and 8-10 December).
Among the many highlights, there will be over 20 traditional cabin stalls selling handmade crafts and gifts as well as delicious festive food and drinks. And not to forget Santa’s Grotto, raising money for local charities.
All visitors can enjoy free fairground rides with a different attraction every weekend including a helter skelter for the first weekend, a carousel for the second weekend and a ferris wheel for the finale weekend.
On Saturdays you can enjoy free Storytime with Santa from 10-10.30am while on Sundays there will be free donkey rides from 11am to 3pm.
New for this year will be opportunity to enjoy breakfast with Santa. This special one-off event will take place on Sunday 3 December 10 – 10.45am. The cost is £5 and includes breakfast as well as a gift from Santa. Booking is essential as places are limited, see http://thecraftersfestival.co.uk/store for tickets.
There will also be welcome elves and walkabout characters, which should make for some great selfies and photo opportunities!
Visitors will be able to relax in a covered refreshments area while enjoying music from local brass bands and singers as well as performances from local dance schools.
Tameside Council Executive Deputy Leader Cllr John Taylor, who is responsible for markets, said: “Tameside Christmas Market continues to grow in popularity, each year we get more and more positive feedback from visitors and traders and we work hard to build on this to make sure we organise an event that everyone can enjoy and benefit from.
“It will complement the many vibrant shops and market stalls already on offer, helping to support local traders and boosting business while providing an enjoyable family event for everyone across the borough and beyond.”
Opening times as follows: Friday and Saturday: 10am-9pm (some stalls may close at 7pm); Sunday: 10am-4pm.
